Update on: HoC 1 Book Cover

  

We changed the title so you can discern the book from the rest that will be in the series. We took out one character and added in another. Blood was added due to the scene that happens right before this one.

I'm thinking this is the final look for the front cover of  HOC bk 1.

We're still tweeking the blurb on the back cover. I think it sounds better.


We're hoping to have short bio sheets and some pictures of the main characters up soon.

* Here's a warning for you, the bio sheets that we post WILL be based on where the characters are at the end of the 1st book. So there WILL be spoilers! If you haven't read the book first anyway. *

New Update:

We hope to release HOC bk 1 this year: 2015.

Mom wants to make sure it's up to snuff and that things are more exciting and work smoother in the book.

More drawings have been added to our gallery so we can describe the characters and scenes better.

When the time comes, we'll announce it.

HOC bk1 Update

Well,

The first edit of HOC bk 1, is halfway through. (Big sigh of relief)

After helping Mom edit most of her books, we've got a routine now:

She writes, I edit. She edits and gives the book to Dad. He reads, edits, and gives it back to Mom. Sometimes we have other pre-readers.

My favorite part right now is reading the chapters aloud that she's edited. We have fun speaking in the characters accents or voice tones (it's one of my favorite things to do). Plus, we find out what sounds right and edit the problems that we wouldn't have caught otherwise. It helps us tighten the stories so they're a lot more enjoyable for the readers.

I'm also working on sketches and colored pictures that will help portray everything better.

So, there's your update.

We're still on cue for the December release date.

HOC bk1 Book Cover & some Behind the Scenes

Sorry everyone,

Been a little busy with getting everything ready for the House of Cards, bk1 novel. I've finished the cover for the book. Might have to tweak it a little.

But over all, I think it's pretty much complete.

I'm going to start working on the 2nd cover once Awe-thas, episode 1 is finished.

Behind the scenes:

The above cover is the final product of 6 other attempts: 

1. This is when the book was still going to focus on Taps more than the kids. But as you can see, I've improved her general appearance since this picture.

2. Another attempt at a Taps cover. Added Copey to this one.

3. Our first try at Sarah being on the cover instead. I wasn't happy with this one because it was boring; minus the Lurker. As you can see, this is the same Lurker that we ended up using on the new cover (at Mom's insistence. Thank-goodness I listened!) I just modified it for the final product.

There are some other "easter-eggs" in this as well. The yellow spray paint was for Utahna's symbol in the Prequels of Mom's COS series. The red graffiti is Mom & Dad's initials with a heart around it. And the bluish symbols were waves for the the sequels to COS.

4. This attempt was focusing on one of the first scenes in the book. Lacey and Sarah running from a bunch of Lurkers. (My first posting of Lacey anywhere)

5. The next scene was Lacey and Sarah trying to get away from a beast. Not pictured at this time. Probably will finish it and post it as a separate picture.

6. A very detailed, far off look at Taps's mansion. I know that sounds odd, but it's true. Can't show this one either. I'll save it for another post, once I finish it. (It's that good, IMO).

Hopefully, this will keep your faces smiling and help you continue to build excitement for this novel.

The release date finally has a month: December 2014

House of Cards to be released in 2014.

This is T. Erickson.

I'm happy to announce that House of Cards: Bk 1: Taps should be ready for publishing by sometime 2014! Right now the 1st bk is being edited, shifted, and molded into something that all children will be able to love to read.

Once the book is released, I'll be able to post a lot more art, concept art, character profiles, designs, etc.
